Development Sunshine Coast

There is plenty happening around the Sunshine Coast region. This development has seen Caloundra come in fourth on the UDIA Top 20 list, with Maroochydore at fifth.

One of the biggest projects is the development of Australia’s only Greenfield city centre within an urban area. This is currently being developed at Maroochydore and includes commercial, retail, city living, entertainment and lifestyle precincts, with approximately 40% of the 53 hectare site to be parks, plazas and waterways. The project will be delivered over the next 15-20 years, transforming Maroochydore into a functional and commercially competitive regional city. The project allows for 150,000m2 of commercial floor space; 65,000m2 of retail floor space; and 2,000 apartments.

Aside from this project is the Caloundra South Priority Development Area (Aura), which will house around 50,000 people. Australia’s largest masterplanned community, Aura at Baringa west of Caloundra will include an ergonomic city centre, business hubs, schools, a university, aged care facilities, sporting and cultural centres, recreational parks and conservation areas.

Other Sunshine Coast projects include the expansion of the Sunshine Coast Airport; one of the largest health infrastructure precincts being developed in Australia at the 17 hectare Health Precinct adjacent to a new $1.8 billion tertiary teaching hospital campus; and a new business, technology and retail precinct adjacent to the University of the Sunshine Coast.
