Stockland has received approval from Brisbane City Council for its’ Development Application for the site on the corner of High Street and Sherwood Road, Toowong. The approval allows Stockland to deliver the proposed 533 new apartments in the heart of Toowong across three stages.
The site is located close to the Brisbane River within the heart of Toowong, five kilometres from Brisbane’s CBD. It has abundant public transport choices, including bus, rail, and ferry services.
There are many schools within the district, and the University of Queensland is just two kilometres from the site.
The development will feature a maximum building height of 25 storeys with restaurants, ground level retail, and a public plaza. The site is within the Major Centre (MC) Zone, and has road frontage to High Street, Jephson Street and Sherwood Road.
The existing Woolworths store, retail tenants, commercial tenants and restaurants currently within the site will be removed to enable the proposed development.
The site also currently has a separate five storey commercial development, operated by a number of separate tenants at 88 Jephson Street and has been acknowledged as a future stage under the structure plan. The timing of the redevelopment not yet been established and is subject to more detailed planning. Until this time, the stores on the site will be able to trade in accordance with their leases.
The redevelopment of this central site within Toowong will transform this part of the suburb with new apartment living, dining and retail options, featuring a plaza style village green and greater pedestrian access options.
The project includes a range of dining and retail options, transforming a corner of the site with retail and a village green offering outdoor seating and landscaped gardens.
The project is still some way from beginning and is subject to more detailed design scheduling, review and local market conditions. Stockland will monitor the local market and will provide progress updates on the project into the future.
